Many
of you have either played and/or coached the sport of
rugby before and you already understand that rugby goes
beyond 'just the game'. We often hear many of you
comment on 'wanting to put something back into the
game', and this is very much appreciated.
The Bangkok Lions Rugby Football Club has been formed to
generate the interest of young people in the Bangkok
area in the game of rugby. Following the guidelines of
the Rugby Football Union (RFU), Bangkok Lions wish to
promote the 'spirit of rugby', both on and off the
pitch, through the enjoyment of learning a challenging
team sport that values effort as much achievement. The
Lions do not want to pursue a 'win at any cost'
culture to the exclusion of the wider values of the game
including enjoyment, teamwork and respect for the
efforts of others. We do however respect healthy
balanced competition.
Following the guidelines of the Continuum laid down by
the RFU, the Bangkok Lions through its series of
incremental coaching elements wish to develop the skills
and knowledge of our young players to eventually
participate in a full 15-a-side game. This progression
has been structured to accommodate the changing
developmental abilities of the young players as they
mature with emphasis being on the improvement of
individual skills through purposeful, enjoyable
activity.
The job of our coaches is to inspire this interest and
development of our young players and provide the
necessary skills & knowledge in a sport that many of us
believe is unparalleled in its sprit of sportsmanship
and camaraderie.
