After four successful weeks of
the DHL Bangkok Lions League, this week sees all age
groups participating in the London Development Company
Rugby Sevens day.
The tournament will kick off
about
8.30am at the Bangkok Patana School sports fields with
matches being played consecutively on all three fields.
Up to 200 children are expected
to contribute to a keenly contested rugby tournament.
The organisers have created a family party mood with a
BBQ and DJ Russell Jay acting as MC and providing
entertainment.
Many parents are expected this
week, supporting their children in a splendid family
atmosphere.
There will be an age group Cup
and Plate final with all children playing on the main
pitch in front of the stands. Win or lose each will
receive a medal for participating presented by sponsors
London Development Company and Bangkok Nursing Home.
Since it started four weeks
ago, this junior rugby initiative in
Bangkok continues to enjoy a steady improvement of
skills and participation across all age groups.
Coaching of the juniors by
experienced senior players is followed by league matches
with children and supporters alike enjoying the Saturday
morning session.
This format has been extremely
successful in many countries and has proven a winner in
the development of rugby. It is hoped that the DHL
Bangkok Lions rugby initiative will contribute to
supporting the image and growth of junior rugby.
Last Saturday’s results.

The Cats by two tries to one.
7-8 year group: The Crusaders
beat The Sharks by 6 tries to two. The Wanderers beat
The Vagabonds three tries to two.
9-10 year group: The Typhoons
beat The Hurricanes by seven tries to two.
11-12 age group: The Aliens

out of place with
the
senior teams at all.
